Our chosen hero this year for the second annual Heat for Heroes was Matthew. Matthew is a dedicated husband and father of 3 located in Calhoun, GA.
Matthew's remarkable journey includes serving as a dedicated Veteran of the United States Army from 2006 to 2015, during which he completed three deployments. His unwavering dedication earned him a constellation of awards, including the Combat Infantryman Badge, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two Campaign stars, Army Commendation Medal (x3), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (x2), Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, NATO Medal, Air Assault Badge, and the prestigious Gold Schützenschnur.
But Matthew's service doesn't stop there. He continues to make a difference in our community, actively participating in the local VFW in Calhoun, where he serves as a group leader, Chaplain, and Service Officer for Reboot Combat Recovery. Additionally, he generously assists fellow Veterans with their post-deployment affairs. Matthew, your commitment to our nation and community inspires us all. Heat for Heroes is a program that launched in 2021. We love being able to give back to a local hero (veteran, active military, or first responder) every year. Nominations for the 2024 giveaway will open in June of 2024.
